ɫƬÈí¼þÃâ·Ñ Appoints Kasey S. Pipes and Chris Ruud (’93) to Board of Regents
ɫƬÈí¼þÃâ·Ñ has appointed two new members to its Board of Regents, the legal governing body and chief policy board of the University.
Kasey S. Pipes serves as president and CEO of the Pipes Company, a crisis communications and public affairs firm, and as partner and cofounder of Corley Pipes, a Washington-based government affairs firm.
Previously, he served as a speechwriter and senior communications adviser to California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and as a speechwriter and policy adviser to president George W. Bush. Prior to that, he worked on Capitol Hill for congresswoman Kay Granger (formerly the chair of the House Appropriations Committee). He began his career as an intern for former president Ronald Reagan in 1995.
Pipes also has authored two Amazon.com bestselling biographies, Ike’s Final Battle: The Challenge of Equality and the Road to Little Rock and After the Fall: The Remarkable Comeback of Richard Nixon.
A graduate of Abilene Christian University, he also holds master’s degrees from Harvard University and Johns Hopkins University. Pipes faithfully served on Pepperdine’s University Board since 2023. He and his wife, Lacie, have three children, Lincoln, Crosby, and Betsy Joy.
Christopher A. Ruud (’93) is currently one of the lead investors and the CEO of DeltaHawk Engines in Racine, Wisconsin, a company devoted to innovative engine design. DeltaHawk Engines has successfully certified and launched the first new piston-based engine design in more than 60 years through the Federal Aviation Administration. Ruud is also a board member and investor in Armis Biopharma and an active investor in other businesses around the country. Previously Ruud was the president of Ruud Lighting and of Cree, a lighting solutions business.
An active member of several nonprofit organizations, he is president of the Ruud Family Foundation and serves on the boards of Forward Racine and Racine Area Manufacturers and Commerce. Ruud is also a member of the executive and finance committee for the Prairie School and faithfully served on Pepperdine’s University Board since 2014.
Ruud holds an executive master of business administration from Loyola University and received his bachelor of science in computer science and mathematics from Pepperdine University.
Ruud and his wife, Chantil (’93), also own and manage a business importing and training horses out of Ocala, Florida. They have three children, Jacob, Zachary, and Caitlyn.
